The agave (Agave americana) can live up to 25 years, yet it blooms only once in its entire life — sending up a stem that can reach ten metres tall, crowned with yellow flowers. And once it blooms, it dies. I discovered this not long ago, and I found it deeply poetic.
Native to Mexico, it has been part of the Mediterranean landscape for centuries, rooted into rocky coastlines, cliffsides, and coastal paths across Catalonia.
This print by Catalan artist Alícia Gómez is inspired by the flora and landscapes of the Costa Brava. The illustration depicts an agave in bloom with a Mediterranean cove in the background and the sun rising over the sea — a scene typical of the Catalan coastline.
The style combines simple geometric shapes with a vibrant colour palette: deep green, ochre, Mediterranean blue and the intense red of the sun. A work with a minimal, contemporary aesthetic, perfect for living rooms, bedrooms or workspaces looking for a touch of light and nature.
This print is made using a technique called giclée, which uses archival water-based inks on premium 200gsm matte art paper (sourced from sustainably managed forests). This results in an exceptional, museum-quality finish. The colors are vibrant and deep, virtually identical to the original, and resistant to light for decades.
The frames are made from high-quality satin-laminated wood (and like the paper, also sourced from sustainable forests), with an acrylic cover and a simple, elegant design. Available in 4 different colors so you can choose the one that best suits your space. They are hand-assembled by a professional framer so they arrive ready to hang on your wall.
